Popular LDS Speaker, Writer Wendy Ulrich to Give Devotional Oct. 16

Popular LDS speaker and writer Wendy Ulrich will present a devotional address entitled, "Creating a Life," during Southern Virginia University’s homecoming celebration Friday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Activities Center.
Ulrich has been a private practice psychologist for twenty years. She is the founder of Sixteen Stones Center for Growth, LLC, which offers seminar-retreats on creating an abundant life, forgiving self and others, coping with loss and indefinite loss, and enriching personal spirituality.
She has published numerous professional articles in both psychology and business. She is the author of “Forgiving Ourselves: Getting Back Up When We Let Ourselves Down,” and “Weakness Is Not Sin: The Liberating Distinction That Awakens Our Strengths.” In addition, she has consulted and done training for Marriott International Inc., Johnson & Johnson, the University of Michigan, General Electric and United Way.
Ulrich holds a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Michigan and is a former president of the Association of Mormon Counselors and Psychotherapists. She has taught at both Brigham Young University and the University of Michigan, and spoken to many groups, including Deseret Book’s Time Out for Women, the Foundation for Apologetic Information and Research and BYU’s women’s conference and education week.
She has served as a ward and a stake relief society president. From 2002 to 2005 she served with her husband, Dave, presiding over the Canada Montreal Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Ulriches reside in Alpine, Utah, and have three adult children.
Local community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to join each Friday morning at 11 a.m. to hear from devotional and forum speakers.
