Fablehaven Author to Speak at Southern Virginia

Brandon Mull
Brandon Mull, author of The New York Times bestselling "Fablehaven" fantasy series, will present a forum Friday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Activities Center at Southern Virginia University.

In March of this year Simon and Schuster published his “Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary,” the fourth volume in the "Fablehaven" series. In July Shadow Mountain released his picture book, "Pingo," Mulls' first book geared toward younger children. "Pingo" tells the story of a young boy whose imaginary friend turns into his imaginary enemy. Mull has been touring the country promoting both of these new books while working on "Fablehaven" number five, "Keys to the Demon Prison," which is expected to be out in March or April of 2010.

Mull admits to a surprising professional background: comedian, filing clerk, patio installer, movie promoter, copywriter and, briefly, chicken stacker. Writing fiction is his favorite job, which he currently does full-time when not traveling the country. His travels include more than the usual book promotion events; Mull visits children in the schools to promote literacy and share the message that imagination can "take you places."

Mull graduated from Brigham Young University and lives in Highland, Utah, with his wife and three children.

Local community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to join each Friday morning at 11 a.m. to hear from devotional and forum speakers.
