T.R. Porter
Associate Professor of Spanish
T.R. Porter is an associate professor of Spanish at Southern Virginia University.
Dr. Porter joined the faculty in 1997. He previously taught at Southern Utah University and the University of Wyoming. He has a Ph.D. in Spanish with a minor in philosophy from Pennsylvania State University. While a graduate student at Penn State, he served as editor of the graduate student journal, El aleph, for two years. At Wyo., he coordinated the language lab and was also involved with the departmental computer lab at Southern Utah University.
At Southern Virginia University, Dr. Porter teaches first- and second-year Spanish. He also teaches upper division courses in grammar, culture and literature. He has served on a number of committees, including Institutional Effectiveness, Grants Management and General Education.
He resides with his family on 'Map's Hill' in a home that was the first hospital in Buena Vista, Va.
