Josephine Arogasami

Professor of Biology

Josephine Arogyasami is a professor of biology at Southern Virginia University.

Dr. Arogyasami joined the community of Southern Virginia University in January 1998. Before coming to the United States, she taught for twelve years at medical and liberal arts colleges in Madras, India. She came to the U.S. in 1984 as a doctoral student at Brigham Young University, and after finishing her Ph.D. and post-doctoral research in zoology at Brigham Young, she joined Westmar University in LeMars, Iowa in 1989. She held various teaching and administrative positions there, including vice president of academic affairs and academic dean from 1995 to 1997. Dr. Arogyasami has published original research papers in scientific journals such as Journal of Applied Physiology, American Journal of Physiology and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. She has also designed and supervised several undergraduate research projects.

She currently resides in Lexington, Va.
