What to Do For Fun
When you need a break from homework and exams, you’ll find several ways to have fun at Southern Virginia.
In addition to dances, movie nights, trips to Busch Gardens and other exciting activities or events, Southern Virginia’s idyllic location brings fun, beauty and history right to your doorstep.
On Campus
If no activities are scheduled, The Kimball Student Center located in the heart of campus provides a relaxed atmosphere with pool tables, Ping-Pong, air hockey, video games and other ways to kick back and have good time. Southern Virginia also hosts a variety of intramural sports and games throughout the year.
Virginia is for…Fun
In three hours or less you could be touring the U.S. Capitol or the LDS temple in Washington, D.C., visiting Thomas Jefferson’s home in Monticello, or checking out dozens of museums, monuments, civil war sites and other must-see attractions around historic Virginia.
Locally in Buena Vista and neighboring Lexington you’ll find quaint shops, two movie theaters, art galleries and museums.
Head Outdoors
If you prefer the outdoors, Southern Virginia's location in the foothills of the Shenandoah Valley is an outdoor enthusiast's dream come true. With more than 58,000 acres of National Forest in the surrounding county, our students enjoy a variety of recreational activities only minutes away, including hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing and more.
