Q. Who is eligible to go on Southern Virginia Travel Study?

A. Travel Study is available to all Southern Virginia University students in good standing.

Q. Can I earn college credits while on a Travel Study trip?

A. Travel Study is an extension of Southern Virginia University’s academic mission of educating the whole person. All travel study is connected to an academic course and is for credit.

Q. Can I go on travel study trips even if I am not currently enrolled at Southern Virginia University?

A. Non-students are welcome to apply for spots not taken by students, who have first preference. However non-students must still apply and be accepted as a part time student at Southern Virginia and must take courses associated with their trip.

Q. Do travel costs include tuition and books?

A. Trip costs cover transportation, food, lodging and other such expenses. The per-credit cost of tuition is not included in the trip price.

Q. Can I use financial aid to help pay the cost of my Travel Study?

A. All federal financial aid can be applied to Travel Study.

Q. How may Southern Virginia students participate in the Travel Study Program?

 1. About 20 percent of the student body travels each year. 

    2. Approximately 10 percent of the student body travels abroad each year.
