Southern Virginia University provides hands-on experience from day one.
Small class sizes means individual attention and instruction for each student.
Special prep course focuses on getting students ready for medical and dental school. Students learn how to select the right school, fill out applications, write great personal statements, succeed in interviews, and prepare for the MCAT.
Prerequisites: Professor van Kuiken works with students individually to make sure they are on track for their desired graduate programs.
Rockbridge Free Clinic: Students can be trained to work at the local free clinic to provide medical and dental care to residents of nearby Rockbridge County.
EMT classes: Students are taught on Southern Virginia's campus and can become certified EMTs.
Medical mission trips to foreign countries during the summer have recently included trips to Ghana and Ecuador.
