Career/Advanced Study Opportunities

Students with mathematic minors are interested in a large spectrum of career fields, including actuarial science, management consulting, financial planning, accounting, operations research and medical professions. They can use the minor to help better prepare them for the GRE, LSAT and the MCAT. Students seek employment in a wide variety of business industries, utilizing their skills to solve engineering and computer-related problems. Students with math minors have pursued careers in medicine, law, business and finance. Other students have gone into technology related industries. Some have used their statistics training and gone on to actuarial careers in the insurance industry. At Southern Virginia University students get a firm foundation in the basics, which help with the transition to the next level of higher education and employment.
