| The family and child development major incorporates both a disciplinary multidisciplinary approach to the scientific study of family that emphasizes the processes that take place within individual families. Courses emphasize research-based knowledge about marriage, contemporary families and human development. Family and child development majors learn about families in society, internal family dynamics, human growth and development over the life span, human sexuality, interpersonal relationships, family resource management, parent education and guidance, family law, family policy and family life education methodology.
