How Does Southern Virginia Compare to Other Colleges and Universities?
The 2008 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) confirmed that the level of engagement inside and outside of the classroom at Southern Virginia is indicative of a commitment to academic excellence that exceeds that of our competition:
- When compared to our competitive peers, our students were twice as likely to ask questions in class.
- Eighty percent of our first-year students reported being involved in at least one extracurricular activity, while the majority of first-year students at our competitive peer institutions did not participate in extracurricular activities.
- The majority of our students reported that interacting with their professors outside of class is an important part of their education at Southern Virginia.
